Randi met Mickey on the GLBT Matchmaker website in September, 1997. We corresponded via e-mail and spoke for hours on the phone for months. I remember how I could not wait to hear Mickey's voice each time the phone rang. After several failed attempts to meet, Randi who was living in Howard Beach, New York at the time made the trip to New Jersey to meet Mickey on November 15, 1997. I moved in with Mickey before Christmas that year.

Mickey was the glue that held Randi together while she worked on her Masters and Doctoral degrees. At one point Randi took a 1-year leave of absence and was probably not going back to finish her doctorate. Mickey pushed Randi until she returned to the Learning Processes Ph.D Program in Applied Behavior Analysis. Randi's leave of absence was only 6 months. Mickey would drive with Randi from NJ to Queens College in NY. She sat through classes, attended professional conferences and supported Randi through the entire process!
