Our wedding will take place, 30 August 2014 on the Big Island of Hawaii, at the luxurious Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows resort on "Sand Court" beach. We have chosen to embrace the Hawaiian locale by incorporating some of their traditional wedding elements into our matrimonial ceremony.
Vision our ceremony.......
Music playing on an ukulele, while the local minister "Kahu" (Hawaiian holy man) singing a chant (mele) walks Penny to a heart shape (circle of love) tropical fragrant blossoms in the white sand. Penny is dressed in traditional white with a colorful sash around her waist.
A conch shell (Pu) is blown announcing the arrival of the bride which symbolizes the calling of the earth, sea, air and fire as witnesses. Wanda appears wearing around her head (haku) flowers of the islands, and dress in a flowning white gown, begins her walk down the scattered flowered aisle.
A hula dancer interpretes the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" while the couple is lead in a recitation of vows. The "ring blessing" is performed representing strength, integrity, prosperity and health and "pouring of the sands" ceremony symbolizing that two have become one and can not be separated.
Concluding with an offering of a lava rock (symbolic of commitment to each other) is wrapped in a ti leaf, and left at the ceremony site as an offering commemorating our union.
