2003 Dom Pérignon Limited Edition Jeff Koons Rosé Champagne The Wine Spectator describes the 2003 Dom Perignon Rose: "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts in this harmonious version. A delicate bead caresses the mouth, while flavors of currant pate de fruit, dried apricots, pastry and pickled ginger expand on the palate. Subtly floral, with a fine frame of acidity driving this to the mouthwatering finish of smoky mineral and dried fruit." The Limited Edition gift box was designed by Jeff Koons himself for Dom Perignon Rose Vintage 2003. The exterior of the boxes feature silk-screened spot-varnished images of a hot pink Balloon Venus on a dark background.The gift box opens to expose the bottle, unveiling first an elaborate design that simulates the iridescent interior of the original sculpture made of high chromium stainless steel with transparent color coating dress. 2003 Krug The 2003 vintage throughout Europe was unprecedented. In Champagne, the extremes were even greater: on one end, there were spring frosts that reduced the crop by an incredible 50%. On the other, was the infamous, record-setting heat. This all adds up to 2003 being an utterly singular vintage in Champagne lore. Out of these extremes Krug produced this fascinating, once-in-a-lifetime Champagne.
The Krug 2003 really impresses with its unique harmony. This is a wine structured not so much around its acid backbone as much as it's structured around its power and generosity. There's an absolutely gorgeous and complex weave to the wine. It boasts a rich mellowness, luscious spice with tones of butterscotch, hazelnuts and the like.
Randi and Mickey have a huge collection of Champagne stored in temperature controlled cellars. This rare vintage will be opened by the couple five or ten years from now and the memory of their wedding and the special person who gave them this gift will be celebrated.
